Maranoa Civil JV was established in 2013 based on the shared vision of Surat Basin Projects and Meales Group to make a significant and tangible difference in the lives of Aboriginal people in the Surat Basin and other regions.

The Maranoa Civil JV vision is being realised through:

  • Providing a clear pathway of support, training, & employment for Aboriginal people to build skills, experience, capability and careers in the civil construction industry.

  • Working with like-minded Indigenous and non-Indigenous civil construction businesses to expand the range of employment & business opportunities available.

  • A strong and enduring commitment to operating in a culturally safe and respectful way with staff, businesses and other traditional owner groups.

  • Providing world class civil construction services that deliver value for clients and assists them to more effectively engage with Indigenous communities.

Capability

Team
Maranoa Civil JV has a core team of experienced staff and can expand its capacity through a network of reliable subcontractors that meets the company’s high standards. This covers a base work crew of 12 Indigenous people and can scale up to a team of 80 Indigenous & non-Indigenous staff to meet increased workloads.

 Experience
The Maranoa Civil JV and member companies have worked successfully with a range of Tier 1, 2 & 3 proponents and other providers.

 The Maranoa Civil JV has substantial experience in successfully working at the intersection between proponents and traditional owner groups and local communities ensuring projects are delivered within scope, time, budget and safety requirements as well as ensuring engagement, training and employment for local Indigenous people.

 Maranoa Civil JV has core capabilities in the following:

Civil works for oil and gas projects
including Camp accommodation bulk earthworks and detailed earthworks for services installation, paths, car parks and access roads for camp accommodation, drill pad preparation, drill site rehabilitation, well site and facility fencing, site earthworks and foundations for gas compression stations, water processing plants, storage and industrial sites, erosion control and water way rehabilitation, pipeline civil works – initial clearing, pipeline work and rehabilitation, and dam and pond construction and rehabilitation.

 Road and access ways
including road repair and maintenance - flood repairs, new access ways and haul roads, repair and maintenance of access ways and haul roads, access road construction and maintenance, flood repair work, culvert work. This includes works to control erosion and sediment run off to water ways, and road site and water way rehabilitation.

Infrastructure
civil construction including precision trenching for services installation – water, electricity and telecommunications, earthworks for water and sewerage reticulation, earthworks for power reticulation and substations, civil works for power station establishment, precision excavation and earthworks around existing services, and power line paths and access ways.

Civil works for commercial and industrial facilities
including hardstand construction, car park construction, civil works and site preparation for industrial facilities including substations.

Civil works for residential development
including civil construction for subdivisions.

Technical expertise and project management.
The company brings decades of experience in successfully delivering works for major projects. This includes high performance project management systems, good communication and the ability to integrate seamlessly with tier 1 and lower tier contract teams on site.

In depth knowledge of terrains, country and cultural heritage allow Maranoa Civil JV to provide expert advice on minimising environmental impacts and managing interaction with items of cultural heritage.

Indigenous engagement, training and employment.
Maranoa Civil JV has extensive networks and relationships with landowners, the community, Traditional Owner groups and the Indigenous community. The company also has strong relationships with local government and the business community in the Surat Basin and other regions.

 Maranoa Civil JV works with a pool of reputable Registered Training Organisations to build the skills of its team - providing training and high quality skills development for its Indigenous and non-Indigenous workforce.
Maranoa Civil’s approach has been recognised internationally in terms of engaging, training and employing local Aboriginal people in the civil construction industry.

 Maranoa Civil JV has capability to undertake small and large scopes of works and has an established network of reliable and proven Indigenous sub-contractors to larger scopes of work. 

The company is prequalified with Arrow Energy and is listed on Achilles FPS.

Maranoa Civil JV has a base in Miles and an office in Brisbane. Meales also has a base in Moranbah. The company has access to a comprehensive range of plant and equipment to suit large and small scope of works through its joint venture partner Meales Group Pty Ltd:
